Hardware warranties.
All warranties are 'return to base' - that is to say it is the responsibility of the customer to return the faulty goods to Hazmar Engineering Consultancy for investigation & replacement and / or repair. All warranties exclude the damage / problems caused by the installation of hardware (internal or external) and / or software, except where provided & installed by Hazmar Engineering Consultancy. Specifically included in this exclusion are the 'free internet' software CD-ROMs available from shops, magazine covers and 'junk' mail etc. Note that installation of hardware and / or software may cause problems elsewhere in the system - not only in the area directly affected by the installation. It is a condition of all warranties that the customer fills in & returns all relevant registration / warranty documentation, as required by the manufacturers, in a timely manner.
New components. New components are covered by a 1 year parts & labour warranty, provided the failure is not caused by some external agent (e.g. customers' other hardware) or misuse. However this is limited to restoring the system to its original situation, and does not include replacing or re-installing hardware or software damaged as a result of the warranted failure.
Second-hand components. Second-hand components are covered by a 30 day parts & labour warranty, provided the failure is not caused by some external agent (e.g. customers' other hardware) or misuse. However this is limited to restoring the system to its original situation, and does not include replacing or re-installing hardware or software damaged as a result of the warranted failure.
Other / extended warranties. Some components may have other warranties provided by the manufacturer. For example:
Most new monitors have a three year 'on-site' warranty. In such cases the manufacturer will supply a replacement exchange monitor directly to your premises.
Some hard disk drives have 'return to factory' warranty periods extending beyond the one year warranty provided by Hazmar Engineering Consultancy.
In such cases the warranty is serviced directly by the manufacturer, although Hazmar Engineering Consultancy may be able to supply advice on the matter. It is most important that the customer completes and posts the warranty documents supplied with the hardware, at the time of sale, to activate these warranties.
